We might as well get this blog started, this little movie is near and dear to my heart because it shows a guy running a older 15 hp Evinrude outboard motor which is identical to one of the outboards I currently use. I get a kick out of the guy's expression when he says that it's at full throttle, he sounds like me....ha....
These little 15 hp Evinrude and Johnson outboards from Outboard Marine Corporation were very popular back in the 70's and 80's when gas started to get pricey the first time. They made the motors in 9.9 horsepower and 15 horsepower, and except for the decals, it was difficult if not impossible to tell them apart. Apparently the major difference was the carb, and I understand you can upgrade a 9.9 to a 15 by swapping out the carburator, although on some model years a little more was required.
These motors are very economical, lightweight and surprisingly very powerful, especially the 15 hp. I wish they were still making them.

Yeap, I love them too. Even though I have a 20hp 1972 it still dependable.
I have had a hard time to find any guidance in maintaining it I did a complete lower unit oil change a re-seal.
I'd be putting some youtube video soon too.
Great video, thanks!
