The ride is so smooth, and you can move around, you're up off the water, so the view is better, and it is just an easy way to cruise the lake. Of course everytime we are out on a pontoon boat, my wife says we need to get one...."We should sell our fishing boat" she says...."our" fishing boat???

Pontoon Boat Ride
We were out for a boat ride this past weekend on a friends pontoon boat. It was a beautiful day and what a great day for a pontoon boat ride. I have been around boats all my life, all kinds of boats of various shapes, sizes, horsepower and so on, but I can honestly say, there is nothing quite as pleasant as a pontoon boat.

The ride is so smooth, and you can move around, you're up off the water, so the view is better, and it is just an easy way to cruise the lake. Of course everytime we are out on a pontoon boat, my wife says we need to get one...."We should sell our fishing boat" she says...."our" fishing boat???

Homemade Hydroplane Racing Boat
For anyone who has ever wondered what it is like to race across the water in a small 8 foot long hydroplane boat, this is a good video! Apparently the owner of this small racer boat built it in a day! Not much to it really, but it looks like fun! I think this is just a flat bottom boat, made from a couple pieces of plywood. I had a plan for one like this but can't find it. A true hydroplane has 'sponsons' in the front that the boat rides up on. The idea is that there is very little boat touching the water, it sits up on the two sponsons and the cavitation plate of the outboard, that would be called a 'three point hydroplane' I don't think that's what this is, but it's still a fun to drive, speedy little boat!
Small Boat Racing
This video reminds me of my teenage years when my buddies and I would spend hours racing our aluminum boats and 9.9 Johnson outboard motors around our cottage lake. Those were the carefree days of summer....I wish they were here again.....
Drift Anchor
If you like floating around the lake in your boat, not in any rush, just spending a lazy day floating on the waves, you know that the wind can move you quite far, quite quick. That is where having a Drift Anchor
comes in very handy. This will slow down your boat's movement, allowing you to hold in one place longer, or at least move slower without needing to drop anchor completely. These are also useful for drifting down a lazy river, as the added drag from the anchor will slow down your drift....also great for fishing and holding your boat steady, as well as changing the way the boat rises and falls in the waves. Really a must for fishing out of a boat.

Outboard Motor Stand
If you own a small outboard motor, one of the nicest things to have at your disposal is an outboard motor stand on wheels, so it becomes an outboard motor carrier! Outboard motors are not light, even the smaller ones can be a strain on your back, and the bigger ones, well, almost impossible for one person to carry any distance.
That is where one of these Weston 130 lb. Outboard Motor Carrier
come in handy. You can move your boat motor around in the garage or boathouse, or use it to carry the motor to the boat to install it or vice versa.
This carrier is good for up to 130 pounds which would cover most smaller outboards in the 2 hp to 25 hp range.

Find out more about it Here!

Pontoon Boat with 15 HP Outboard Motor
I love the idea of a pontoon boat. These things are so relaxing, a great way to spend the day with friends, go fishing, swimming, just cruising the lake. This is a cool little pontoon boat powered with a 15 hp outboard. It moves quite quickly and looks like it handles good too. Kind of small for my lake, but an excellent size for smaller bodies of water and small groups.
